Repentance is about restoring our relationship with God by honestly recognizing where we’ve fallen short, confessing our sin, and turning back toward Him. Through the story of the Pharisee and the tax collector in Luke 18, we see that God isn’t looking for pride or comparison, but for humility and a heart that is willing to return to Him. Repentance means more than admitting our sin. It means changing direction and choosing to follow God’s way. And when we turn back to Him, we don’t find crossed arms or condemnation. We find a God who is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and full of steadfast love.
