The Martyr

Mar 29, 2026    Matt Santen

This sermon centers on Matthew 11:2–6 and the story of John the Baptist to show what it really looks like to follow Jesus when life doesn’t go as expected. Even though John faithfully pointed people to Jesus, he found himself in prison, questioning, and ultimately facing death—reminding us that obedience to God doesn’t guarantee comfort or easy outcomes. Through Jesus’ response, “blessed is the one who is not offended by me,” we see a call to trust Him even when He doesn’t meet our expectations. The message challenges us to speak truth boldly, choose humility over pride, and remain faithful no matter the cost, because the greatest blessing isn’t a problem-free life—it’s the nearness of God found in unwavering obedience.
